Engage Our Cities
Read a LA Times blog about a symposium called "Cities, Bicycles and the Future of Getting Around". The author wrote something that I thinks nails the exact needed change in our thinking if we are to avoid environmental catastrophe in the years to come: "What all the speakers kept coming back to was a certain notion of engaged citizenship, that on bikes, or on foot, we had to interact with the city directly, rather than from the air-conditioned distance of our cars." We must interact with our cities more. That means walking or biking to the local corner grocer or bakery instead of driving five miles to a strip mall or MegaMart. Nutrition 101
There's a book that profiles 101 people from around the world and what
they eat. Each profile has a picture of a person and what he/she eats
in one day. Some of the photos are very striking. You can check out a
sampling of the book here:

It's Been A While
It has been a while since I last posted to this blog. In the meantime,
I've gone off and started a number of other blogs and social media
pages for the company I work for. It has been a fun experience.
Hopefully, I'll be posting more regularly in the future.

Feeding Time at the Zoo!
There is a very interesting bronze statue just outside the Taipei Zoo. Obviously, the artist wanted to show how humans and animals can peacefully co-exist. But maybe this particular piece shows people and animals as being a little bit too close.Read more . . .

Showgirls of Computex 2007
It's good to take pleasure in your work and fortunately for me, I was able to take a little more pleasure recently during Computex Taipei 2007. There were plenty of sexy showgirls about and I made a little video of them.Read more . . .

Sense of Humer

Gotta love some of the wacky English you see in Taiwan at times. I, however, was quite suprised to see this glaring error on a sign at one of the of the more up-scale bookstores in Taipei.

Riding Taiwan's High Speed Rail
I took a trip to Taichung at the end of January on Taiwan's recently opened High Speed Rail (HSR) line. Tickets were being offered at half price just before the official opening of the line and I decided to try it out. A trip that normally takes around two hours by bus was done in under an hour. Boy, was that fast!Read more . . .
